We face many differences throughout our lives, whether it be difference in opinions, tastes, interests or even personalities. These can all be worked on mutually as agreements on these subjects are able to occur with compromise. However, a real issue arises when we face differences in values and beliefs. This cannot be bridged by a mere discussion as these are fundamental parts of our being that have taken large amounts of time to forge and strengthen. To resolve such differences takes tremendous will and reflection. In life, as much as we would like to, we can’t please everyone.

If we make repeated, small improvements over and over again, in time they will add up and become exponentially greater. We must focus on improving the little things constantly. It will eventually pay off. Keep at it.

What is leadership?

The first documented use of the word was back in 1821. This was when the word ‘leader’ was combined with the suffix ‘ship’, which denotes position. The word ‘leader’ has origins in Old English from the word ‘lædere‘ – one who leads, as well as ‘lædan‘ – to bring, guide forth.

This definition provides a very basic idea of what it means to be a leader. The fact that the modern definition of leadership is vast and ever changing makes it even more difficult for us to pinpoint exactly what it means.

The modern shift towards leading by example and enabling others to achieve their maximum potential must be noted as the definition “to bring, guide forth” is ringing true now more than ever. The key to cultivating such an ability is self-awareness and being aware of how your actions impact those around you. Hence, self-discovery and introspection are pivotal on a path to becoming a leader.

The importance of being on time should not be understated. Those who are punctual are much more respected by others as they get the impression of being more organised and on top of things. Being punctual also benefits productivity as it inherently causes you to start doing things earlier. If possible, always plan ahead and be punctual.

To be fully transparent to the people you trust is the most important gift you can give them. This puts you in a vulnerable position to be betrayed but also allows you to further gain their trust and deepen this relationship. Being transparent also means that other people may think of you when they feel that they are able to be of help.

Transparency is significantly beneficial to all relationships.

With the amount of chaos that currently exists in the world, there are many issues to resolve. When there are issues to resolve, there are opportunities for lasting businesses to be created. The fundamental purpose of a business is to solve a problem within the market, so the next few years are the time to jump on an innovative idea and go all in.

Time to get your grind on.

The way in which we communicate with ourselves is immensely important. It determines how we think of ourselves and hence the world around us. Therefore, we must make it a priority, so that we can live a more peaceful life.

To communicate with ourselves contains many dimensions. This includes listening to our thoughts and questioning their root causes as well as being in touch with all of our emotions. Having the conscience to consistently question the way our being functions and evolving is the key.

If we trace our bloodlines to the end, as humans, we all had the same ancestors. However, more recently, if you count a few thousand years as recent, the human race has split into many groups with slightly different traits. From these groups, we may be able to trace back our own ancestry and find well known figures in history who originate from similar areas and ethnic groups. Just knowing that we may share the same blood as some of these extraordinary individuals can empower you.

Now it’s your turn to carry on their legacy.

The media has immense power to shape the perceptions of whole populations. If monopolistic control of the industry is allowed, the diversity of public opinion will be at threat. This is what we enjoy the most within a democratic society. We need media with morals.

Why do we feel anxious?

Often anxiety is a sign that you don’t have the tools needed to achieve a certain outcome. When this is the case, the most effective way to cope is to detach oneself from the outcome and focus on doing what we can in the present; not putting too much pressure on yourself to strictly follow every guideline that you set. This way the process becomes less stressful and can be much more fun.
